Stop! Important Travel Advisory: Read Before Applying for Your Ghana Pre‑Approval Letter
The DAGH Credibility Commitment
If you’re planning to travel to Ghana and think a pre‑approval letter is enough to board then fly, please remember this is a high‑stakes YMYL (Your Money or Your Life) matter. Our goal is to provide experience‑based guidance yet your successful travel still depends on obtaining full approval from the Ghana Immigration Service (GIS), following the correct process, and meeting all airline and entry requirements.
🚨 Alert: Pre‑Approval Letter Doesn’t Automatically Guarantee Entry or Boarding
Even with a pre‑approval letter, you must still satisfy all immigration and airline requirements (passport validity, visa stamping, health certificates, etc.). Failing to complete any required step may result in being denied boarding or refused entry. The information in this article reflects current guidelines as available, but it does not substitute direct compliance with GIS or your airline.

If you are planning to travel to Ghana and you do not have a visa, you will need a Pre-Approval Letter (OK to Board). This letter is an important requirement that allows you to board your flight and makes it easier to get your visa on arrival at Kotoka International Airport.
Service Hours
Diaspora Affairs Ghana offers this service to travelers. We are available from Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM GMT. There is also a 24-hour support option, so travelers can get assistance outside regular working hours if needed.

How the Process Works
- Make your payment through the Mobile Money details provided.

Final Payment at the Airport
When you arrive at Kotoka International Airport, you will need to make a final payment of 200 US dollars at the immigration counter to receive your visa.
Travelers from African Union (AU) member states do not have to pay the 1,400 GHS fee for the pre-approval letter.
