The 2023 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) results have sparked a renewed debate on the quality of education in Ghana. The results showed a decline in the number of candidates who obtained grade A in Mathematics and Science, two core subjects in the Ghanaian education system.

The Ghana Diaspora Advocacy and Resource Foundation (GDAAR) has expressed concern over the declining standards of education in Ghana. The organization has called for a comprehensive review of the education system to ensure that it produces graduates who are equipped with the skills and knowledge needed to succeed in the 21st century.

GDAAR has also urged the Ghanaian government to increase investment in education and to provide teachers with the resources they need to effectively teach their students. The organization believes that these measures are essential to improving the quality of education in Ghana and ensuring that all Ghanaian children have access to a quality education.

The BECE results have also raised concerns about the equity of education in Ghana. The results showed that there is a significant disparity in performance between urban and rural schools. Students from rural schools are less likely to obtain high grades in the BECE than students from urban schools.

GDAAR has called for the Government to take steps to address the disparities in education between urban and rural schools. The organization believes that all Ghanaian children, regardless of their location, should have access to a quality education.
