You’ve seen the incredible stories, felt the pull of the Motherland, and perhaps even made the journey yourself. Now, you have the chance to pay it forward and empower a fellow African American to reconnect with their ancestral homeland in Ghana.
Why Sponsor an Ancestral Heritage Tour?
For many, the dream of visiting Ghana, walking the grounds of their ancestors, and participating in traditional ceremonies remains just that – a dream, often due to financial barriers. Your sponsorship directly removes these hurdles, offering an individual the life-changing opportunity to:
Walk in the footsteps of their ancestors at historic sites like Cape Coast and Elmina Castles.
Participate in a deeply meaningful Naming Ceremony.
Immerse themselves in the vibrant culture and hospitality of Ghana.

We are seeking to sponsor 2 individuals from our Facebook community for a fully-funded Ancestral Heritage Tour to Ghana in 2026!
How Will the Selection Be Made from Our Facebook Group?
Transparency and genuine connection are at the heart of DAGh’s mission. We want to ensure this incredible opportunity reaches those for whom it will have the most profound impact. Our selection process will be community-driven and merit-based:
Eligibility:
Must be an active and engaged member of the official DAGh Facebook Group.
Must be of African American descent.
Must be 18 years or older.
Must possess a valid passport with at least 6 months validity from the planned tour date (early 2026).
Must be able to obtain a Ghanaian visa (DAGh will provide support and invitation letters, but the cost and responsibility for application remain with the selected individual).
Must be genuinely passionate about reconnecting with their African heritage and willing to share their journey with the DAGh community.
Applicants must submit a short video (2-3 minutes max) or a written essay (500 words max) to [dedicated email address or form link provided by DAGh].
In their submission, they should answer:
“What does reconnecting with your ancestral roots in Ghana mean to you?”
“How do you envision this tour impacting your life and future?”
“How would you share your experience with the DAGh community and beyond?”
We encourage submissions that are heartfelt, authentic, and truly convey the individual’s connection to their heritage.
Community Engagement & Shortlisting (Mid-September 2025):
A select panel from DAGh leadership will review all submissions based on the passion and sincerity expressed.
A shortlist of 5-7 candidates will be announced confidentially to those candidates, and with their consent, their submissions (or excerpts) may be shared anonymously within the Facebook group to inspire further discussion around the importance of ancestral connection.
Final Selection & Announcement (Early January 2026):
The DAGh panel will conduct virtual interviews with the shortlisted candidates.
The 2 selected sponsors will be announced live in our Facebook group! We will celebrate their journey and keep the community updated on their preparations.
