The DAGh Credibility Commitment
If you are using our “complete guide” to obtain a Visa on Arrival for Ghana, please treat this as a high-stakes YMYL (Your Money or Your Life) matter. Our article provides experience-based and detailed assistance, but your visa approval, boarding and entry still rely on official immigration and airline compliance.
🚨 Alert: Following a Complete Guide ≠ Guaranteed Visa or Entry
A complete guide may help you navigate the process well, but it does not guarantee visa issuance, boarding approval or entry. Final decisions remain with the Ghana Immigration Service and your airline.

Most travelers planning a trip to Ghana are required to obtain a visa before entry (with a few exceptions). The standard procedure is to apply at the nearest Ghanaian consulate or embassy in your country of residence. However, if you’re unable to secure a visa before departure, Ghana offers a visa on arrival option—perfect for short-notice travelers and emergencies.
What Is a Ghana Visa on Arrival?
A Visa on Arrival (VoA)—also referred to as an Emergency Entry Visa—is a temporary entry permit granted by the Ghana Immigration Service. It allows eligible visitors to legally enter or transit through Ghana. The visa is typically valid for 30 days and can be extended during your stay if necessary.
Please note:
- It is not valid for multiple entries (you cannot exit and re-enter Ghana using the same visa).
It’s ideal for tour groups, last-minute travelers, business visitors, and those with no access to a Ghanaian mission in their country.
